The technology behind switchable glass, installed by the team headquartered in your backyard.
PDLC — polymer dispersed liquid crystal — is the layer that makes glass switchable, and Cherry Hill is where we install more of it than anywhere else, for a simple reason: this is our headquarters market. The practices along Kings Highway, the showrooms on Routes 70 and 38, and homes across the township can get a sample demo on their own glass within days.
ClearSwitch Glass supplies PDLC as retrofit film for existing glass and as laminated smart glass panels for new work, in HD and low-haze UHD grades, with every control option from a simple wall switch to full smart-home integration.
A PDLC layer holds microscopic liquid-crystal droplets in a polymer film between transparent electrodes. No power: droplets scatter light, the glass is an even frost. Power on: droplets align, the glass clears — in under 100 milliseconds. The film blocks 99% of UV in both states, draws about as much power as an LED bulb, and in the frosted state works as a rear-projection surface.
What Cherry Hill installs look like:
Exam rooms and operatories specify PDLC for privacy that switches instantly and disinfects with an isopropyl wipe.
Route 70 storefronts frost after hours and run rear-projected video — glass as signage.
Township office plazas add switchable frost to existing partitions in a single day of work.
Showers, home offices, and street-facing panes get the same technology with humidity-rated detailing where needed.
Local means measurable things here: consultations within days, on-your-glass demos, installs scheduled around your practice or store hours, and warranty service minutes away instead of shipped away. Our own licensed crew handles every step — measurement, fabrication coordination, wiring, controls — under a 2-year warranty.
Schedule a ConsultationBeing local compresses our standard three steps:
Site survey or drawing review, film-grade selection (HD or low-haze UHD), and an itemized written quote with spec sheets.
Panels and film are produced to your glazing schedule, with seams, busbars, and transformer locations engineered up front.
We install, wire, and commission the system — including zones, scenes, and any smart-home or BMS integration.
99% isopropyl alcohol on microfiber is the standard — the same wipe-down protocol most practices already run. Ammonia-based cleaners and abrasives are the only exclusions. The surface is flush glass film: nothing to launder or dust.
Fully view-blocking in both directions at any normal distance — shapes dissolve entirely. Light still passes, so rooms keep their daylight; it's privacy, not blackout.
Two years on the complete installation — film, wiring, and switching hardware — serviced by our own Cherry Hill-based team. The film itself is a solid-state material with no mechanical parts to fail.
Exam-room privacy at the flip of a switch — on a flush glass surface you can disinfect, with no curtains to launder and no blinds to dust.
